1 Year Blog Anniversary
I can’t believe it's been one full year since launching my blog! A year ago, I posted on my Instagram:
“I have exciting news. I finally started working on the passion project I’ve been wanting to do for years, but honestly was always worried what everyone would think. Well...
That's dumb and I decided to just start. I’m doing it for me. I love writing and want to have all of this documented. Hopefully some of you will enjoy it too (if not, that’s okay)”
And here we are, one year later. McKenzieMonday.com has published 37 unique posts - something I'm incredibly proud of. I've covered a wide range of topics, from navigating life with a toddler and a newborn, sharing my breastfeeding journey, and discussing the challenges of returning to work after maternity leave. I've also delved into planning birthday parties and weekend getaways, creating gift guides, and sharing my goal setting practice. I've dedicated countless hours and poured my heart into this blog, and as I predicted a year ago, I'm truly grateful to have this entire year documented.
What I’ve Learned
So, a year later, I’ve learned a few things. First and foremost, generating content is a lot of work! Especially when you already have a full-time job and are trying to be a great mama. I had big expectations of writing weekly posts, but after with a new promotion at work and demands of life, finding the time to write became increasingly difficult. There were countless days where I felt like I had something to say, but by the time I got a free moment to write, I was just too exhausted.
And I realized this is okay! The most difficult part is simply persevering. So, although my blog isn’t quite as consistent as I expected, I’m really happy with how it has evolved. I've been able to cover a wide array of topics, sharing my thoughts and experiences, and accumulating a wealth of memories and advice that I've neatly categorized for myself.
What’s Next?
Although there were moments when I contemplated retiring the McKenzie Monday Blog, I'm thrilled to announce that I feel inspired to continue for another year (for some reason, I've decided to approach this passion project one year at a time). As we step into the new year, my goal is to share the next phase of my life and our exciting 2025 adventures. I'm committed to maintaining vulnerability and pushing myself to share even more. However, I would also to track more closely what type of posts others like the most—and give the people what they want!
Thank You
As far as for the people, I have to remind myself that this journey was never truly about seeking their approval or accumulating likes. I wanted to do this for me. Of course, I would be lying if I said views didn’t matter to me. (If they didn’t, I wouldn’t post anything publicly). So, to all the people- thank you! Thank you for reading, for giving me your feedback, for sharing your thoughts, for purchasing through my links, or simply telling me you like the blog. I genuinely appreciate each and every one of you.
I’m so excited to see the next year and phase of this passion project. Happy 1st Birthday to the McKenzie Monday Blog. XXX, McKenzie
