Everything You Need to Plan a Disco Cowgirl 1st Birthday Party

Kelly Rae, affectionately known as "my girl," recently celebrated her first birthday. Time has flown by, and while I'll save my reflections on her first year for another post, I must say it's becoming a tradition in our house to throw an intimate first birthday party with our closest friends and family. I've discovered my love for themed parties, and Kelly Rae's 1st birthday gave us the perfect excuse to host a fun, pink, girly party with a Disco Cowgirl theme. If you're like me and enjoy finding the perfect theme, you've probably spent countless hours on Google and Pinterest searching for ideas and supplies. Well, look no further! In this post, I'll share everything I used to plan this sweet party, from invitations and decor to the menu. So let's get started!

Where possible, I included the links directly to the products I used. As an Amazon Associate, I do make a small commission when you purchase through my links, which I always appreciate!

Invitation

While text or virtual invitations are convenient for most parties, I decided to go old school for the 1st birthday and send out paper invitations. I love having a physical invitation as a keepsake for her baby book. I found this spunky invitation on Etsy, purchased the virtual file, and then edited it with my personal details before printing it at my local FedEx.

Menu

We kept things simple and prepared everything ourselves for the birthday party. Most of the food was prepped the night before. Our menu isn't extravagant, but if you're searching for simple party food ideas, I hope to provide you with some inspiration. Here's what we served:

  • Sliders

  • Chili: We use the recipe out of this Jessie Jame Decker Cookbook, “Just Eat”

  • Mississippi Sin Dip—big crowd pleaser. I use this recipe.

  • Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • Veggie Tray

  • Beverages

  • M&Ms

  • Cupcakes

  • Custom Cookies

Decor

To create the perfect Disco Cowgirl atmosphere, we used a variety of decorations. Here are the items we used:

I hope you found this guide helpful for planning your next party. Happy Birthday to Kelly Rae! Until next time, happy party planning! XXX, McKenzie
