Mother's Day: Reflections, Quality Time, and Gift Ideas to Make It Special

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, happening on Sunday, May 12th.  Before I became a mom myself, I used to focus on spending time with my own mom and making her feel extra special on this day. But now that I’m a mom too, Mother’s Day has taken on an entirely different meaning. Sometimes I even forget that I am now someone’s mom (well, actually two people’s mom!). With these little humans that now depending on me, Mother Day has become a time for me to reflect on this important role.

For this Mother's Day, all I really want is to hang out with my adorable kiddos (and my awesome mom, who's actually going to be in town this year). It’s nice to feel special, so I would love it if we planned something fun for us to do together that day, like grabbing a yummy brunch, doing a cool family activity, or having a delicious dinner. (I mean, let's be real, having someone plan out a whole day is a gift in itself!)

But hey, receiving a physical gift on Mother's Day is also a sweet way to feel the love. Personally, I'm all about anything that has my kids' names on it or something they've made (well, my two-year-old is the only Picasso in the family for now). If you're on the lookout for a gift for yourself, your own mom, or just need a subtle hint for your loved one, I've put together a short gift guide of things I either want or already have and absolutely love. These goodies would be perfect for Mother's Day!

As an Amazon Associate, I do make small commission on anything purchased through my links- which I always appreciate!

This is the one thing I’m asking for this year (I want to add a tag on my necklace for my daughter). This necklace is great quality and the one piece of jewelry I always reach for. I also love that it is personalized!

An Experience

Think concert tickets, a cooking class, wine tasting, or a family photoshoot

The Gift of Pampering/Self Care

Think the Spa, a massage, a manicure, etc.

This is my go-to mom uniform- especially when I’m at home with the kiddos.

These are the best for MOTN feedings because of the buttons. I took these pajamas to the hospital with me for the birth of both babies and still wear them to this day.

Our family loves the Hatch- we have this sound machine for each of our kids’ rooms & our room. We love them! The Hatch in our room was especially great when our newborn was sleeping in our room, and we could use the nightlight (we used a gentle red light) and sound machine. It also has a great feature to wake you up gradually with light.

Polaroid Camera & Accessories (link)

I LOVE having pictures, so it's no surprise that I would love to have a camera where I can capture pictures and have them printed out immediately. We have polaroid pictures all over our house (well just pictures in general), but I think this is a great gift if you are someone that seems to never get around to getting photos printed out. If you are buying the Polaroid camera. I also suggest getting all the accessories including a case, film, photo album, and these adorable magnets that are on my wish list!

For your coffee, water, or anything you can think of. It’s important to stay hydrated and a fun cup helps! I use my glass cup for green juice which isn’t that tasty, but somehow tastes better in a fun glass cup.

I purchased these earrings back in 2020 & they are one of my go-to earrings ever since because they are light weight and easy to throw on—especially when you are running around doing mom things. Mine have held up great in the last 4 years- no tarnish or turning my ears green.

Mom’s One Line a Day Journal (link)

I’ve been using a “sentence a day” journal since 2013 & plan on doing a separate post as to why I’m such a big advocate for this practice. I noticed that there is a special “Mom’s” version where mamas can capture just one sentence a day. What an easy way to capture your children’s childhood and your journey as their mama! With this, no day would fall through the cracks without capturing special moments.

With a toddler and a newborn, this is the only purse I use! I love that I can keep the essentials close to me and have my hands free. These are also very “in” right now. (I love this color, but you might be able to find a cheaper option on Lululemon directly.)

These are AMAZING at taking your makeup off. I also use them every morning/night when washing my face, since you don’t want to continue to reuse the same towel day after day when washing your face. This is an affordable and practical Mother’s Day gift.

I have a bag like this that I currently use to keep my portable pump parts in. This can be such a cute, useful, and versatile bag for makeup, toiletries, sunscreen, or whatever you can think of!

I mentioned this bracelet in a previous post, but I’ve never taken this bracelet off. Not only is it cute, but I use it to keep track of side I left off on when breastfeeding. Perfect gift for Mother’s Day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate!
