Easter Traditions & Baskets for a 2-year-old and Newborn (That you still have time to get!)

Growing up Easter was my favorite holiday. I think this was mostly due to the traditions that my parents had created. It started first thing Easter morning where all the real eggs we had dyed were hidden around the house by the Easter bunny for us to find as well as our Easter basket filled with fun little treats. This epic scavenger hunt was described in a note (alongside some half-eaten carrots) coming directly from the Easter Bunny that he left after visiting that prior night. After finding all our Easter treats, our day would continue with an amazing brunch and lots of time with family and friends. (As a kid, any time I got to play with my cousins was the BEST).

This Easter, Lane is finally able to understand the concept of Easter. We have been reading all the books and talking about the true meaning of the holiday. Along with church, I plan to recreate the Easter morning magic with dying easter eggs, creating a hide-and-seek game, and a delicious brunch. I’m hoping this will also be one of his and Kelly Rae’s favorite holidays!

In my opinion, Easter wouldn’t be the same without an Easter basket. Here are some ideas for what I’m putting together for my son and daughter’s basket this year. Hopefully this can help you with some ideas for your kiddos. When I bought it on Amazon, I included the link.

For Lane (currently 2 ½ years old):

I was on the hunt for microwave and dishwasher safe plates for Lane (he has graduated from these suction plates which we LOVED but couldn’t microwave). We haven’t tried these new ones yet since I’m saving them for Easter, but I think they are going to be perfect. I also got Lane new silverware that was metal instead of plastic, so he could better get his food on his fork. We have already started using these and highly recommend them. Lane asks for these forks specifically!

  • All the things Paw Patrol!

Lane is OBSESSED with all things Paw Patrol right now. He already has all the action figures and their cars, but the new thing he has been asking for is the Lookout (if you know you know). He asks every day if the Easter bunny will bring it to him. I also got him these cute Paw Patrol Band-Aids as we don’t have any kid friendly ones and he refuses to use the plain ones.

  • Pool Accessories for this summer

I usually like to get Lane all his swimsuits for the summer at Easter. I feel like it's a practical gift. This year I ordered Lane and Kelly Rae matching swimsuits from Ollie’s Day. I love to have at least one good quality bathing suit & these have the cutest patterns. However, because kids are kids, I also like to have some inexpensive options on hand. The last few years I have gotten the Cat and Jack brand from Target. They have cute prints and have held up well over the summer. This year I also ordered Lane these adorable flip flops for wearing to and from the pool. Trust me you need a no sock shoe option for this summer.

  • Toddler Friendly Treats

I have ordered a custom cookie for everyone in the family with their name on it this year. Something cute that I know we will all enjoy- plus I love supporting a small business when I can. I’m also going to grab some Annie’s Bunny Grahams to put in his basket – on theme and Lane loves these.

For Kelly Rae (currently 2 months old):

  • Pool Accessories for this summer

Again, using Easter as an excuse to get Kelly Rae some practical things (since she obviously has no idea what is happening). First, a sweet little bathing suit in the same pattern as Lane’s from Ollie’s Day. I also got her a hat that she can wear to the beach or pool. Finally, some baby sunscreen. Sun Bum sunscreen is our favorite & I will probably use this on Lane as well.

Because why not? She can never have too many. This was a best seller on Amazon, so I figured I would give it a try.

  • Easter Book

I love giving books for holidays and writing sweet messages inside their cover. We read ALOT in this house, so having new books is something we all enjoy.  For her first Easter (which I will write in the note), I got Kelly Rae Easter is Coming which is a sweet religious book about the holiday- great quality because it is padded. Lane already has Biscut Pet and Play Easter, Llama Llama Easter Egg, and Construction Site: Spring Delight which he loves (and we have loved reading this season).

We already have one of these that has been great to have. It takes the worry of hitting their head on the spout away. This one is just more aesthetically pleasing than the one we have.

There you have it! Because I got most of these things on Amazon, there is still time for you to make a sweet and practical Easter basket for your little one. Happy Easter!! As an Amazon Associate, I do earn from qualifying purchases.
