Creating a Sweet and Practical Nursery for Your Little One X2
I have no qualifications, am not a designer, and wouldn’t even say I have “an eye” for it, but I loved the process of decorating both of my children’s nurseries. It was the best part of my "nesting" phase. Even now, with my son at 2.5 years old and my daughter at 6 months, their bedrooms still bring a sense of calm and security. Trust me, if you're expecting a baby, taking the time to create a special space for them is totally worth it!
I spent countless hours searching for nursery inspiration because, let's face it, I needed all the help I could get. But now, I want to share that inspiration with you, so you can create a beautiful nursery for your little one too!
Where I could, I provided links to the exact products I purchased and used. As an Amazon Associate, I do make a small commission when you purchase through one of my links, which I always appreciate.
Lane’s Black & White Modern Nursery
Lane’s nursery all started with this black and white wallpaper I stumbled upon. I knew Lane was going to be a boy, so I wanted something masculine yet soft enough for a newborn, and a theme that could grow with him into toddlerhood. This turned out to be an excellent choice as I love how his nursery turned out. It’s one of my favorite rooms in our house.

As I mentioned, I started with this wallpaper. My husband and I installed it ourselves which ended up being a time-consuming and meticulous task, since we used removable wallpaper.
We opted for a neutral crib and dresser set from Restoration Hardware. The quality is top-notch, and it's designed to grow with our baby into the toddler years (yes, the crib converts into a toddler bed). Plus, it's gender-neutral, so it can be used for future babies too!
This mattress is fantastic! It's breathable, which gave me peace of mind when my son started rolling over and sleeping face down.
Imagine a stylish ladder that not only holds blankets but also doubles as a spot to secure our baby monitor. It's practical and adds a nice touch to the nursery.
We chose this monitor because we wanted something that was Wi-Fi-free and had a separate screen from our phones. We've been really pleased with this simple monitor and it's also easy to travel with.
I absolutely adore the look of this glider and ottoman, and it's been a fantastic purchase. We actually went through another chair before finding this gem. We still use it every night for bedtime stories. The only downside is that the back is a bit short, so it can get uncomfortable when rocking the baby for extended periods of time.
I had a painting like this saved for inspiration for years. It’s so special to me and one of my favorite parts of my son’s room.
Kelly Rae’s Girly Coastal Chic Nursery
For Kelly Rae's nursery, I wasn't sure whether we were having a boy or a girl. I picked out the wallpaper and dresser early on, and then I filled the room with gender-neutral options like the white chair, wicker side table, and natural crib. Once our baby girl arrived, I added more feminine accents to the room. It all came together surprisingly fast, thanks to quick shipping. I absolutely adore this space because it's more fun and spunkier compared to Lane's nursery. Although I didn't plan it this way, I feel like each of their rooms perfectly matches their personality.

Everything in this nursery started from this wallpaper. I love how bright and unique it is, and I always get compliments on it. At the time, there was no removable wallpaper option, so we got someone to professionally install.
The ladder we have in this room is an older purchase from Target which is no longer available, but I was able to find a similar option available on target. We again love the ladder to stylishly and discreetly mount the baby monitor.
For our crib, it was important to us to again have a neutral aesthetic and one that could convert into a toddler bed when the time comes. We got this crib on sale during Black Friday and are very happy with it so far!
We had to wait an exceptionally long time for this glider and ottoman to arrive (longer than the estimated time when we purchased), but it is extremely comfortable. I would definitely purchase it again.
This was a pricey accent, but such a beautiful piece that I hope Kelly Rae will have for years to come. Surprisingly, the pillow is functional as well as timeless. We use it as support when rocking her to sleep.
Our exact accent table is from target and currently out of stock, but I included a link to a similar option.
I purchased this print off Etsy, got it printed on poster paper and then framed ourselves for a more affordable option.
I love this piece! It is something I purchased before I knew the gender of our baby. I think it's neutral and timeless.
This changing pad has been a game changer compared to Lane’s changing pad and cover. It’s easy-to-clean and fully impermeable to fluid.
